North Texas Conference UMC Essay Contest

Share your COVID19 stories! Every one of our churches experienced a historic year in 2020 due to the stresses and strains of the coronavirus pandemic. The North Texas Conference Commission on Archives and History is running a contest for stories about the pandemic at your local church!

Here are the details:
Topics: Reflecting the diversity of the Conference, there will be numerous categories judged. Some of these are: rural churches, suburban churches, urban churches, young persons’ perspective, elders’ perspective, parents’ perspective, school from home, mission during the pandemic, worship during the pandemic, maintaining community, congregational care during the pandemic, the pastor’s perspective, the laity’s perspective, racial justice, multi-language churches, and organizations such as United Methodist Women.

Length of Submission: Submit entries in an MS Word document. Essays should not exceed two pages (700-800 words in length) and can be about any aspect of church life since March 2020. Given the size limits, a focus on the most important and telling aspects of your church community’s experience is encouraged.

Place of Submission: Send to [email protected] by 12:00am on 02.15.2021

Announcement of Winners: Winners in each category will receive recognition.
