Wesley UMC,
Based upon the conditions in our county, the Wesley Board met and concluded it will be best to continue online worship through March 7. Based upon current trends, there is cautious optimism we may be able to resume in-person opportunities in mid-March. The Board will meet on March 2 to evaluate where the pandemic trends are and what God is leading us to do next. The Bishop and District Superintendent’s office also sent the following notification out on February 11. We support this call to faithfully respond to the realities of the pandemic. Overall, we can see a horizon emerging which gives us hope that we are closer to a resolution of this long epic. Christ is always faithful. You, His people are faithful, Thank You!
Pastor Chris and the Wesley Board
Greetings,
While the conditions at Hunt Regional Medical Center are better by a slim margin compared to last month, hospital occupancy is at 96%, the ICU is at 100%, and 26% of patients are COVID patients. The most recent report available (Feb 5) states we have 40-50 new cases per day, 1264 active cases, and 25% of the total number of COVID cases have been diagnosed since Jan 1.
Hunt County continues to have large numbers of positive COVID-19 diagnoses which are affecting the ability of healthcare workers to provide care for this region. Experts warn that in-person gatherings directly contribute to this influx and will continue to do so if preventive action is relaxed.
After conferring with Bishop McKee, the current suspension of all in-person worship activities at North Texas Conference churches in Hunt County will continue through March 7.
This is a vital and necessary step in our ongoing efforts to do no harm, and we will continue to monitor this situation closely.
Thank you for your continued understanding and faithful service.
Peace,
Rev. Dr. Victor Casad
District Superintendent, East District
North Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church
